About Me
Hi, I’m ren (they/them). I’m a LGBTQIA+ and neuroaffirming therapist based in Sheffield, working with adults in person and online.
This page is designed to help you get a sense of what it’s like to sit across from me.
If you’d rather speak to me, head over to my contact page to arrange a call.

What is it like to sit with me?
I’m a calm, steady presence, and I’m relaxed and down to earth in the room.
I wear comfortable clothes, I often take my shoes off, and I sometimes sit cross-legged in my chair. If you want to sit on the floor, move around, stim or fidget, that’s fine with me.
I want you to do whatever helps you feel comfortable and able to make the most of your therapy.
Why I do this work
I do this work because I’m interested in people, and I like building real relationships. I take it seriously when someone trusts me with their inner world, including the painful parts. It’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly, and I try to meet it with patience, steadiness and care.
I’m non-binary and queer, and you can read more about my apprach to LGBTQIA+ therapy here. In a nutshell, I believe that counselling is most effective when you feel safe to be yourself.
I care deeply about LGBTQIA+ justice and equity, and I welcome clients from across the gender, sexuality and relationship spectrum.
The world isn’t equally fair to everyone. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, classism, religious discrimination, and the ways they overlap, can seriously affect our mental health. Therapy isn’t separate from that. If any part of who you are, or any difference between us feels relevant, you’re welcome to bring it up at any point. I’ll be glad to explore it with you.
