My name is ren (they/them). I’m a fully qualified, BACP registered therapist working in Sheffield and online.
How can therapy help you? And how does what I offer answer that call.

My Approach
I’m a integrative therapist. This means that I draw on a range of theories and techniques, including:
- Psychodynamic psychotherapy. Early relationships affect our thoughts and feelings in our current relationships. By understanding your unconscious patterns, you can make changes in everyday situations.
- Person centred therapy. Putting you in the driving seat for therapy, sessions are led by what you want to work on. I provide empathy, compassion and genuineness to support you.
I also incorporate aspects of somatic therapy, attachment theory and CBT.
LGBTQIA+ Counselling
As a queer person I know therapy is most effective when you feel safe to bring your whole self to a session.
I care deeply about LGBTQIA+ justice and equity. I welcome clients from across the gender, sexuality and relationship spectrum – whether you want to work on issues related being LGBTQIA+, or something else entirely.
Experience
I’ve worked with clients who are experiencing:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Relationship challenges
- Identity
- Sexuality (including coming out) and gender identity
- Difficult family relationships
- Loss and bereavement
- OCD and phobias
- Chronic health conditions
- Support for families of people experiencing addiction
I have experience running support groups for OCD and phobias with the charity TOP UK. I also worked for the national mental health charity, Mind.
Qualifications
- BACP Registered Member (402263)
- CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
If you like the sound of what you’ve read so far and would like to go ahead, the first step is to contact me with any questions you might have, or a request to start therapy.
It’s useful, but not essential, to tell me a bit about what’s prompted you to look for therapy. You can also tell me if you want to work in person or online, and the dates and times you’re available for therapy.
You can do this using the contact form below, or send me an email.
We’ll then arrange a time, subject to availability, and you’ll have two options to choose from:
- book in a full 50 minute first session (charged at my standard rate)
- book in a free, 20 minute video call to get a sense of what it might be like to work with me before committing to a full session.
Don’t worry if you’re not 100% sure exactly what you want to get from counselling before you start – we can work this out together in our first few sessions.
Therapy with me costs £60 for a 50 minute session. I also offer 3 slots at a reduced rate of £45 per session for people facing unemployment, low income or financial hardship.
I work in person and online. My therapy room is at Site Gallery in Sheffield, and I use Whereby for online video sessions.
My room is on the second floor, accessible via lift (step-free). There are accessible toilets on the same floor as the therapy room.
Whereby is available via the main web browsers, including on mobile devices, and doesn’t require you to download any new software. Here’s more information about how to join a Whereby meeting.
